How the points work
Every appointment scores the fit plus the standing. The fit comes from the archetype the person carries and the seat you give them. Five appointments make 175 points, three bonuses add 20 more, and the cabinet is scored out of 195.
The eight archetypes are the sovereign who held power over a state, the commander who led armies in the field, the financier who moved money at scale, the performer who worked a crowd, the builder who made a thing that lasts, the firebrand who changed minds on the page, the contender who won in the open, and the outlaw who took what was not theirs.

Standing runs 1 to 5 and is printed on every card. It adds on top of the fit: 1 pays 0 · 2 pays 2 · 3 pays 5 · 4 pays 7 · 5 pays 10. A standing 2 sovereign in the Chair pays 27, and a standing 5 firebrand in the same chair pays 28, which is why the natural fit is not always the right call.

The score is graded with one word: 40 is a region, 80 a continent, 120 most of the map, 160 the whole thing.
Nothing in the score is random. Two identical cabinets always score the same number, and every board is generated until the best line it allows falls between 166 and 186 out of 195, and until taking the biggest name in front of you lands well short of it. Par holds from one day to the next, and greed does not pay.
What Country Draft is
Country Draft is a free daily strategy game about filling a cabinet. Five rounds, and every round is one country: Argentina, then Japan, then Mali. That country puts three of its people on the table, each of a different kind, you take one, and you give that person one of five seats: the Chair, the Field, the Purse, the Voice, the Desk.
Every person carries an archetype and a standing, and both are printed on the card. The seat decides most of the points, the standing decides the rest, and the whole table is published on this page. After five appointments the cabinet is scored out of 195, which is how many of the world's countries it takes.
Everyone gets the same five rounds and the same fifteen people each day, the board resets at midnight Europe/Berlin time, and there is no random bonus anywhere in the score. Outside the daily board, Country Draft can be played an unlimited number of times in practice mode, where nothing counts and the best possible line is shown at the end so the next daily goes better.

Country Draft in numbers
Country Draft is a daily geography game in which players play five rounds, each one a country that puts three of its people on the table, take one of the three and give that person one of five seats in a cabinet that is scored out of 195.
Country Draft trains reading which kind of person fits which job, and holding a seat open for a round or two when the board has not offered the right person for it yet. A single round of Country Draft takes 1-2 min, and Country Draft is free to play in any web browser, no signup, no download, no payment.
Country Draft has a daily board: every player in the world gets the same puzzle on the same day, and the Country Draft board resets at midnight Europe/Berlin time. Outside the daily board, Country Draft can be played an unlimited number of times in practice mode.
